Ok. So I have probably lost a lot of you here. I get it it’s a little out there. I like trying to use natural products on my babies as much as I possibly can. The idea of slathering their delicate skin with lots of chemicals just makes my skin crawl a little bit. There are some fantastic natural products out there but a lot of them come with a high price tag, and as always when you make it yourself you know exactly what is in it, no questions. So I like to experiment with making my own natural products when it is within my means to do so.
Enter the diaper cream experiment. I have had a heck of a time finding effective diaper cream that works with my kiddos skin so when I saw this recipe from Ecocrazy Mom and I had all of the ingredients on hand I decided to give it a whirl.
I used an old jelly jar because that is what I had lying around. If I would make the recipe again I would grate the beeswax and then melt it because I think it would melt more quickly. Also when you add in your coconut oil or whatever oil you choose the beeswax does clump up a bit again, if you keep stirring it dissolves.
So far I really like the results. I have used it as an ouchie soother too and it really does calm the skin. It is also clearing up diaper rash quite nicely. So I would consider my endeavor a success. And if you feel inspired it is definitely worth a go!
